I think a simple mod structure that involves adding new currencies could simply extend the game's life by quite a bit. -

Akhlysthis would solve most of the other features people would want, because someone would just make a mod for it

Tecroach110% yes devs you can off load your work to unpaid minio~~~! I mean total paid not living in a box mod makers.
being serious now
Yes i will love to see mod support because.
1. it give the game more bang for your buck which mean more sales
2. it expand the game's lifespan which means more eyeballs on the game which mean MORE SALES
3. mod support can lead to people having more fun which in turn tell their friends about it and how cool it was with and without mods, which you guess more eyeballs on the game and that leads to EVEN MORE SALES just look at other game that did great with mod support. -

ChaseTo add to this:
Unreal engine does have ways to quite simply allow for modding using .pak files. I don't think there's a need for a fully fledged modding API from day one. Unreal already is quite moddable and there are a lot of modmanagers already existing. All the game needs to do (as far as i know) is to load pak files from a specific directory after loading its main resources to allow for things to be replaced -

MoonlitShadeMod support oftentimes makes or breaks a game's long-term success due to replayability. Especially for sandbox games. Skyrim, Rimworld, Minecraft, all games that would not be even 90% as popular as they had become if not for mod support. Of course those are more open-ended sandbox games than this one, but even factory games like Factorio oftentimes are successful because of mod support. A game having a wide selection of mods will keep replayability high and keep people buying the game years down the line. I am genuinely of the opinion that it is not only a smart move for devs to add mod support, it is a dumb move NOT to.
Plus, as mentioned above, many decisive features that a lot of players want but some don't could just be mods! -

mayeli think mods wou be awesome but after a bit more polish on the base game. there are still at least one way to softlock yourself (with the files) and a few machines missinh for completion sake.

GRIM7DI would love that being able to add your own currency (like the jazzpunk currency) , and missions (like a fallout or cyberpunk one) ,or more artwork bills or custom bags and boxes (like a dying light theme sports bag based off the dying light messenger bag). this game is just perfect for mods.

PallasI hope that mod support will never be added to the game. It's a good thing that the developers decide how their game should be, and as a developer, one should be proud that the game ends up the way they created it... not the way some people end up ruining it with mods. I would be okay with an exception if modders paid their share to the developers.
