Not sure if the straps coming off in the wash is a bug since it does allow for a ton of bills to be in the washer.
If you crouch and pick up bills it is possible to pick up unlimited bills. I believe this works with the washing machine as well. -

TOMAATEEa little roundabout way: put them in the washing machine. it unwraps all bundles.

OddiesEven if you can put it in the washing machine, it would still be nice to have a dedicated machine just for unwrapping

MihoshikaEh. The washing machine is better than a dedicated one for the process. Streamlines the process. Rather than separating dirty/clean, just throw it all into the wash. Then you don't have to worry about contaminating anything.

stonhingeFor those recommending washing machine, I really don't like having to run a wash/dry cycle on bills that don't need it.
A dedicated machine would have an output that can be directed to a cart/pallet. Washing machines need to be emptied manually and you can only pick up 300 bills at a time. With being able to "fill" the washing machine with an armload of banded bills, it's *really* easy to put up to 3000 bills into a washing machine. Which you then have to take the time to pull out. 10 times.
Even if it's a feature (or add-on) to the normal XXL counting machine (which would be preferred for me, just load wrapped stacks into the machine that's going to sort them).
I wouldn't even mind if it spat out trash for each taped stack that I'd have to clean up. -

CastorI kinda consider the washing machine trick a bug as you wildly overload it. The least finicky way so far for me is using the workbench: you throw stacks on it, it get spread on your table, press 1, cut the tape without having bill jumping everywhere, right click to put knife asside, press "X" to click the bills into stash and throw armloads into container of choice.

SquidlipsThis should also be a feature of the knife or even an option when holding a single strap of bills. It might also make sense to let strapped cash be dropped into sorters, which would automatically unstrap them and put the bills in.

Marked bills, you can cross contaminate your missions with marked bills. -

AckdamSo, here's my method:
Take a half brick, or less, of strapped bill packs (15 packs - 3 stacks of 5) and set them on the floor or a table.
Place two packs that combine to more than 100 bills on the long side of the row of stacks.
Orient yourself on the side opposite the two packs.
Cut open the two packs and let them form a pile.
Move your mouse over one of the stacks until the cut icon shows.
Press and hold the mouse button to cut open the pack.
Button still pressed, move the mouse to cut the rest of the stacks.
All packs should be able to be cut relatively easily.
Continue with more stack setups until all packs needed are open.
Pick up a wad of the opened cash (F+Click).
Hold right click down with the wad in your hands (placement mode) and swipe it over any piles of cash or loose bills to add them to the wad. Place the wad wherever you want it.
You can likely line up more stacks and just go down the line until they stop combining into the pile, but I haven't done any further testing. -

Nick Rappe MergedCreate a machine that you can load with stacks that cuts the bands and spits out individual banknotes (and maybe even cut bands as garbage). Personally, I've found the process of cutting open large amounts of partial and mixed bill stacks to be very tedious. would also like to see the manual cut bands appear a garbage in the pile of loose banknotes.
